Warm Winter Recipes from Our Family to Yours
As the chilly winter winds blow and frost paints our windows, there's nothing quite like gathering around the table with loved ones to enjoy a hearty, home-cooked meal. Today, I'm excited to share two of our family's favorite winter recipes that are not only delicious but also incredibly easy to make. Enjoy and thank you VERY much for checking us out- merle:)
Cozy Chicken and Cornbread Dumplings
This comforting dish is like a warm hug in a bowl. The tender chicken and fluffy cornbread dumplings swimming in a rich, savory broth will have everyone asking for seconds.Ingredients:
4 cups cooked, shredded chicken
6 cups chicken broth
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup diced celery
1 diced onion
1 tsp dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
2 tbsp melted butter
Instructions:
In a large pot, combine chicken, broth, vegetables, and seasonings. Bring to a simmer.
Mix cornmeal, flour, and baking powder in a bowl. Stir in milk and melted butter.
Drop spoonfuls of the cornbread mixture into the simmering broth.
Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes until dumplings are cooked through.

Fudgy Cocoa Brownies
These brownies are incredibly rich, fudgy, and easy to make in just one bowl.Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
Melt butter in a large microwave-safe bowl.
Stir in sugar and cocoa powder until well combined.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in vanilla extract.
Fold in flour and salt until just combined.
Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until edges look dry but center is slightly underbaked.
